Town hall meeting set for residents to discuss future MNPD Chief

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Metro Human Relations Commission and Nashville's Community Oversight Board have partnered to host four virtual townhall meetings allowing people to give input on the next Nashville Chief of Police.

Davidson County residents will be able to virtually attend the meetings to share what kind of qualities they would like to see in the next MNPD chief.

The first forum will be held Monday, Aug. 24, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The second forum will be on Monday, August 31.

Anyone wanting to attend the town hall can stream it here or dial in by phone.

To attend, residents can stream the teleconference or dial in by phone at 415-655-0002 (Code: 146 284 3058#). For those wanting to speak, residents can call in at 629-255-1907. Each person will be given two minutes for input. They can also give a prerecorded statement at 629-255-1906.

Below are the following town hall dates:

Community Forum #2 (Monday, Aug 31) – Victims' Rights, Survivors of Domestic Violence or Trafficking, and Mental Health Communities.

Community Forum #3 (TBD) – Black Residents, Youth, LGBTQIA+ Residents, Hispanic/Latino Residents, Immigrant and Refugee Communities.

Community Forum #4 (TBD) – Faith Leaders, Senior Citizens, Formerly Incarcerated Residents, and Residents Experiencing Homelessness or Housing Insecurity.
