NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A trial has begun for a man accused of killing an Iraq war veteran in front of a Metro Nashville ATM eight years ago.
Christopher Davis, age 28, is facing a possible life sentence without parole after being charged with felony murder and attempted especially aggravated robbery in connection to 26-year-old Henry Clayton's death in Antioch on June 13, 2007.
Assistant District Attorney Roger Moore Moore said Monday during opening statements that blood splatter evidence on Davis' clothes and the testimony of at least two others charged in the case would show Davis was guilty.
Davis' case drew attention after attorneys argued over whether Davis could face the death penalty. Criminal Court Judge Monte Watkins had declared Davis intellectually disabled, making him ineligible for the death penalty.
