The plane of Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, was diverted to Nashville International Airport after reporting engine problems.
The Trump Boeing B757 landed at BNA around 4 p.m. Wednesday. A statement from officials with the Federal Aviation Administration said they would be investigating.
The plane was on its way to Little Rock, Arkansas for a rally when the starboard engine experienced a mechanical issue 50 miles outside of Nashville.
A source close to NewsChannel 5 said the pilots reported an Alert 2 situation, which constitutes a potentially serious problem. Sources said one of the engines was sticking in neutral.
Trump was on the plane and boarded another one shortly after landing. He arrived at the rally more than an hour and a half late due to the problem.
"That was a rough one," Trump said about the experience. "[It] was not easy with all the traffic and all the problems and mechanical and everything else."
As of Thursday morning, the plane remained at the Nashville Airport for repairs.
It's not yet clear whether it would be ready in time to fly Trump to New Hampshire for the next primary.
