Police have arrested the man believed to be responsible for robbing two women at gunpoint.
Officers with the Metro Nashville arrested 29-year-old Khamphon Xayyasith early Saturday morning.
The women told police Xayyasith approached them as they were leaving the Sutler, and demanded their purses at gunpoint. When they hesitated, he allegedly grabbed their handbags and fired two shots into the air before leaving in a silver Nissan Xterra.
One of the women was able to electronically track down her purse to a house on Maxon Avenue where officers located the same SUV parked in the driveway.
Officers arrested Xayyasith and recovered both purses from the house.
Xayyasith is a convicted felon. He has previous convictions for felon in possession of a weapon, assault, burglary, and drug possession, is now charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault. He was held in lieu of $125,000 bond.
