CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating the circumstances that occurred during a fatal-officer-involved shooting in Clarksville on Saturday.

According to a TBI release, around 9:45 a.m. Clarksville Police responded to a wrecked vehicle on Batts Lane. Witnesses told police they had seen a man and a woman walk away from the crash. Officers then found two people in the area who matched the description of the driver and the passenger.

However, when officers approached the two people, the man, 29-year-old Angel Burke fled on foot.

One of the officers chased after Burke while the other stayed with the woman.

While the circumstances surrounding the event are still under investigation, it has been reported that Burke was armed with a handgun and the chase ultimately ended with the officer shooting Burke.

Once taken to a Clarksville hospital, Burke was pronounced dead.

This investigation is ongoing.
