SMYRNA, Tenn. (WTVF) — Smyrna Police Department have apprehended a man wanted for allegedly assaulting the mother of his baby.
28-year-old Beau Beecham was taken into custody in Shelbyville on Wednesday.
Police said there was a domestic dispute between the infant's mother and father at their home at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators said Beecham assaulted the child's mother and left with their two-week-old infant.
Officers were concerned for the safety of the child because of his age and because it's believed Beecham is armed with a gun.
Investigators said Beecham took the child to a relative's house early Wednesday morning. The baby was later taken to area hospital to be evaluated and later returned to his mother.
Beecham is charged with Domestic Assault, Unlawful carrying and/or possession of a weapon, Reckless Endangerment, Habitual Offender for Driving on a revoked license, Driving on a revoked license 6th offense, Aggravated Assault, and Especially Aggravated Kidnapping.
Beecham is being held on a $53,500 bond and will be held at the Rutherford County Hail until his court fate on March 5 in Smyrna.
