NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The road to Omaha runs through Music City, as the SEC champs play host to some of the nation's best teams. Vanderbilt's Hawkins Field will host the NCAA regionals Friday.
Vanderbilt, fresh off winning the SEC tournament, plays Ohio State in the first round of games. Indiana State and McNeese State opened play at noon Friday.
The powerhouse Commodores dominated the SEC, sweeping the regular season and tournament, the first time any SEC team has done that since Vandy's 2007 squad. They were led by Austin Martin's .414 batting average and J.J. Bleday's 26 home runs. Vanderbilt last won it all in Omaha in 2014.
