HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – A veteran has been given a brand new, mortgage-free home in Sumner County thanks to a program that builds homes for veterans.

“Operation Finally Home” is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to building homes for wounded, ill or injured veterans, surviving spouses and their families.

Several of people gathered in Hendersonville to celebrate James Family’s homecoming.

Goodall Homes partnered with the non-profit to build the new home for Army veteran, Joseph James, and his family.

James made sure to remind everyone in attendance that the home was more than just a gift.
“I accept this home only if it’s on behalf of Major Mark Rosenberg, Sargent Anthony Hardy and our interpreter - his nickname Eminem, who were in the truck with me the day I lost my legs and my career from a roadside bomb in 2008. Major Rosenberg was lost that day while Hardy, Eminem and I were left missing our leader and our dear friend,” said James.

“This home is not just a place for my family to grow, but also be filled with my undying respect for Mark. With every board and nail I want to donate to the memory of one of the most amazing officers I’ve ever had the honor of serving. This is for you Major Rosenberg,” he added.

The James family planned to move in soon. Operation Finally Home has help many veterans all across the nation.
