A Rutherford County motocross racer was reunited with his favorite bike that was recently stolen thanks to tips from the community.
NewsChannel 5 first introduced viewers Tre Faulkner Thursday outside of his Rutherford County home as he pleaded for the public's help.
The day before, his one of a kind, vintage 1981 YZ465, aka "Ole' Yeller" was stolen from his property. On Friday, we caught up with him outside the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office with a huge smile on his face.
"I'm just glad to have my bike back, yes," he yelled.
The bike is now marked as evidence at the Rutherford County Jail.
"My bike is in the parking lot next door being pulled in, a tow truck brought it in," Faulkner said.
A tip from a Smyrna viewer set everything in motion.
"He watched the news, left his house, drove down the street, and saw my bike in the parking lot of a neighbor, 250 feet from his house."
On Friday, after seeing media reports a man contacted the sheriff's office and said someone offered to sell him the bike and left it on his property. Authorities then worked to confirm it was Faulkner's bike.
"When somebody hurts you, you have two feelings. You have a feeling of vengeance, then also the feeling of overcoming, peace, just let it go and let them have their way," Faulkner explained.
Faulkner decided to take the higher road and was just happy to have his bike back. He planned to race it next Saturday at the Decatur County Fair.
