Before a Nashville museum closes and moves to a new location, residents had a chance to visit one last time.

The Tennessee State Museum held a "Pack the Wagon" event Saturday.

There were special family activities and a chance to celebrate the museum before it moves.

The museum has been in its current location in the Polk Center since 1981. Museum officials said many visitors have fond memories of stopping by through the years.

“This is a chance for those families and visitors to come back and remember the museum as it is, and we hope they will come back in October when we open the new one,” said Ashley Howell.

The museum will officially close at its current location on Sunday. Over the next couple weeks, items will be moved to the new location at Bicentennial Mall State Park.
