A West Nashville church was vandalized, and the criminals left behind thousands of dollars worth of damage.
"When people find value in stuff, they protect it instead of destroying it," said Jordan Ivey, First Baptist Church West Nashville, Pastor.
It was clear that certain people in the community didn’t value the house of God.
"It was shocking, it hurt, it was shocking," said Ivey.
Pastor Jordan Ivey walked into First Baptist Church West Nashville, and was greeted by destruction in the sanctuary, which forced the small men’s group, who planned to gather there, into into a cleanup crew.
"They just destroyed everything they could get their hands on. The fire extinguishers, of course all of the white residue it’s not dust trust me," said Ivey.
The vandals took several fire extinguishers and emptied the chemical throughout the church, and people who’ve been helped out by the church said they were in disbelief that someone would vandalize a church.
"It’s obvious that someone’s got a problem. I’m sure it’s not with the Revered, I just think they’ve got a problem," said Fredrick Wallard.
It's a problem the community hoped police would put a stop to.
"The Lord has always provided resources in miraculous ways for us. So we’re just going to trust the Lord," said Jordan.
To help the church make repairs, donations can be sent to its gofundme page.
