COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A White County man has been charged with homicide in connection with his wife’s death.
Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Joshua Brandon Simmons, of Spencer, claimed that his wife, Jerrica, was run over by a back tire when she jumped out of the passenger door of his truck.
Simmons took the 23-year-old woman to an area hospital where she later died from her injuries.
The TBI began investigating the case in March. Authorities were able to gather more evidence and presented it to the White County Grand Jury.
An indictment was issued Monday, charging the 34-year-old with one count of reckless homicide.
Simmons was arrested Monday at his home in Spencer and was booked into the White County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
