Williamson Co. Votes To Create Sports Authority

Williamson County Commissioners voted to create their own sports authority after a major sports event center announced it was closing.

Commissioners met Monday night to discuss forming their own agency, which could generate more recreation opportunities throughout the area.

The sports authority would handle a third-party entity wanting to invest, and the Mayor said it was a welcome addition to the growing community.

Last month, the popular A-Game Sportsplex announced they would close, leaving rec teams without a place to practice or play.

That also forced events to be scheduled in other counties, meaning those dollars meant for Williamson were spent elsewhere.
