More than 100 students from a Wilson County high school have returned from dropping off a donation for wildfire victims in Gatlinburg.
The Wilson Central High School student body came together to launch the "$2,000 in 2 Minutes" campaign.
They wanted to raise money for the effected high schools in the area. When the two minutes were over and they tallied their donations up, they had nearly $6,000.
"I didn't believe it at first because it seemed so unrealistic for such a short amount of time, and I wouldn't think that so many students would have participated as much as they did. But I guess when it's something that hits so close to home a lot of people want to participate," said Gabrielle Lasater.
The students not only reached their goal, but they also ended up raising well over $12,000 to be donated.
