Woman attacked, pushed into traffic by man asking for cash, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Police say a 65-year-old man was arrested for attacking a woman and pushing her into traffic after she told him she didn't have any money.

The incident happened on June 21 at the intersection of 5th Avenue North and Union Street.

According to a police affidavit, the victim was taking her lunch break at 9 p.m. when she was approached by a man.

He asked her for money and she replied that she didn’t carry cash. Police say he then slapped her with his open palm and pushed her in front of a moving vehicle.

The driver had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting her. She suffered bruising on her face from the assault.

The victim identified the suspect, Timothy John Donahoe, in a photo lineup. He was charged with reckless endangerment and assault.

Donahoe has an extensive criminal history, including indecent exposure and a criminal trespassing.
