A Donelson woman was carjacked at gunpoint Tuesday evening in her own driveway.
It happened just off Elm Hill Pike, just east of Darfon's Restaurant and Lounge around 7 p.m. The woman, who has asked to remain anonymous while her attacker is still at large, said the thief appeared to be between 13 and 15 years old.
"He just looked like a young boy," she said. "I thought, I could take him you know? But the gun was pointed right at my stomach so I knew not to do anything so I just handed it over."
The incident started when the woman turned onto her street after filling her car up with gas. She has asked NewsChannel 5 not to identify her specific street for her safety.
"A silver SUV came on down the street and turned around and I just kept my eye on it and it parked," the victim said. "I sat there for a few seconds, thinking it was safe for me to get out."
But when the woman exited her vehicle, the teen was standing in front of her with a gun. He demanded the victim's purse, wallet, keys and vehicle, but when he tried to leave he seemed unable to drive - possibly because he was so young.
"He didn’t even know how to start it. He was trying to start it with a radio button," the victim said. "He took off backwards and almost ran into something and then pulled back forward so he could turn around. He had no idea what he was doing."
Police were responding to a similar report just a couple blocks away at the time, so the victim was able to wave down an officer.
Luckily, no one was hurt in either incident. So far, no one has been arrested.
