Woman Critically Injured In North Nashville Shootout

A woman was critically injured during a shootout in North Nashville.

Metro Nashville officers were near the area of 24th Avenue North when they heard dozens of gunshots Thursday night. They rushed over and found a woman sitting on a bench at a bus stop with gunshot wounds.

Police believe the woman, identified as 58-year-old Linda Nelson, was an innocent bystander who was in the area and was caught in the crossfire. 

She was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Officers said they believe there were multiple gunmen. They placed at least 45 evidence markers at the scene.

At least one apartment and several cars in the area were also shot.

There was no description of the shooters at this time. One gun was found at the scene.
