NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A woman was killed after bing hit by a vehicle on Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage.

According to Metro Police officials, 57-year-old Doris Tyler McElroy was hit by a SUV Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. on the 4900 block of Old Hickory Blvd.

Police say McElroy and her daughter, 21-year-old Page Tyler were trying to cross the road when McElroy was hit by a 2010 Mercedes SUV being driven by 54-year-old Robin Reding of Mount Juliet.

McElroy and her daughter were reportedly walking toward the Firestone on the 4900 block Old Hickory Boulevard where they had parked their vehicle.

Page was not injured. Police say they were not in a crosswalk and were crossing in a poorly lit area. McElroy was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.

The driver told police she was unable to avoid the collision. There was no indication at the scene of drug or alcohol involvement in the fatal crash. No charges are anticipated.
