NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A woman was killed early Friday morning in a rollover crash on Interstate 65 near I-40 north of downtown Nashville.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. at the entrance of I-40 near Metro Center Boulevard.
Officials with Metro police said a woman was driving around trucker’s curve, when her car flipped over the overpass and rolled multiple times down the embankment.
The car came to rest in southbound lanes of I-65.
The victim's body was thrown from the vehicle during the wreck and found some 30 to 40 feet from the car. Police said she was not wearing a seatbelt.
There were no witnesses to the crash. The woman’s identity was not known.
Officers remained on the scene for several hours as the investigation continued.
Lanes of I-65 south were closed until about 7:30 a.m. and caused major delays during the morning commute.
A second crash in the area also caused more delays near Rosa L. Parks Boulevard.
No additional details were known.
