Is there a better Alternative to the Death Penalty?

On August 15th, Tennessee executed Stephen West via Electric Chair. West was sentenced to death after being found guilty for the 1986 kidnapping and stabbing deaths of 51-year-old Wanda Romines and her 15-year-old daughter, Sheila Romines, and of raping the teen. The Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty believe the continued use of this method is a long, costly process to taxpayers, and runs the risk of executing an innocent person. They believe life in prison provides a legal finality to the families as soon as the trial is over. What do YOU think?
