WTVF-NASHVILLE — On August 15th, Tennessee executed Stephen West via Electric Chair. West was sentenced to death after being found guilty for the 1986 kidnapping and stabbing deaths of 51-year-old Wanda Romines and her 15-year-old daughter, Sheila Romines, and of raping the teen.
The Tennesseans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty believe the continued use of this method is a long, costly process to taxpayers, and runs the risk of executing an innocent person. They believe life in prison provides a legal finality to the families as soon as the trial is over.
