Cato, Marshall Defeat Middle Tennessee 49-24

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Rakeem Cato threw for 337 yards with three touchdowns and ran for a fourth, and undefeated Marshall became bowl eligible with a 49-24 win over Middle Tennessee on Saturday.

Cato extended his streak of games with a touchdown pass to 38, tying Russell Wilson for the FBS record he set while at N.C. State and Wisconsin. Cato completed 17 of 33 attempts with an interception.

Devon Johnson had 134 yards on 19 carries with three scores for the Thundering Herd (6-0, 2-0 Conference USA).

Marshall led 28-17 at halftime and pulled away with rushing touchdowns by Cato and Johnson. Craig Wilkins' second touchdown of the game from Cato to make it 49-17 early in the fourth quarter.

Austin Grammer threw for 201 yards with two scores and an interception for Middle Tennessee (4-3, 3-1). Jordan Parker finished with 14 carries for 100 yards.
