Tennessee State Races Past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 44-0

O'Shay Ackerman-Carter passed for 259 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Tennessee State shut out penalty-prone Arkansas-Pine Bluff 44-0 on Saturday night.

Tennessee State (1-0) put points on the board in under two minutes on four of its eight scoring drives, including an eight-second drive that was a 44-yard pass from Ackerman-Carter to Ronald Butler for the first TD of the game. Lane Clark had staked the Tigers to a 6-0 lead with field goals of 47 and 23 yards. Butler also scored a rushing TD from the 10, capping a two-play drive in 43 seconds.

The sophomore Ackerman-Carter completed 18 of 32 passes. Tennessee State owned a 23-8 advantage in first downs and was 3-for-4 in the red zone compared to Arkansas-Pine Bluff's 0-for-1.

The Golden Lions (0-1) were flagged 14 times for 110 yards, managed just 49 yards rushing and 119 in the air.
