This week's weather forced Vanderbilt's men’s basketball team to make a few adjustments in their travel schedule.

The team was originally scheduled to leave Friday for their SEC matchup with Kentucky on Saturday, but they decided to leave Thursday afternoon to beat the snow storms.

The team usually leaves 48 hours early for a game as close as Kentucky, but the coaching staff figured it was better to be safe than sorry.

“It’s very atypical and unusual for us in the terms of the way we travel, but we just feel like it’s kind of necessary given what the weather status is,” said Kevin Stallings, Vanderbilt basketball coach.

While they did get out of Nashville before the snow hit, snow totals in Lexington, Kentucky were around  ten inches.

Crews worked for two days to make sure roads and parking areas were cleared off for Saturday's game.

GAME DETAILS: Tyler Ulis scored 21 points, Jamal Murray added 18 and No. 23 Kentucky shot 64 percent in the second half to cruise past Vanderbilt 76-57 on Saturday.

The Wildcats (15-4, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) led throughout thanks to strong shooting, finishing at 55 percent from the field. Ulis' scoring was balanced, with 11 of his points coming during a second half in which Kentucky led by as many as 21. He finished 9 of 13 from the field with two 3-pointers.

Murray meanwhile was 7 of 13 from the field including 3 of 6 from long range. Alex Poythress got Kentucky started in both halves for 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting with many coming inside.

Kentucky held Vanderbilt (11-8, 3-4 SEC) to 32 percent shooting and 33 percent from behind the arc to halt the Commodores' three-game winning streak.

Damian Jones had 13 points and Jeff Roberson added 12 for Vanderbilt.
