Titans Don't Pick Up 5th-Year Option Warmack

Posted

The Tennessee Titans have declined to pick up the fifth-year option for guard Chance Warmack, giving the 10th overall draft pick in 2013 the chance to convince them he should stick around after this season.

The Titans announced the decision Monday.

General manager Jon Robinson said in a statement this is the best move as the Titans manage the roster and salary cap. He says they informed Warmack and his agent Monday morning.

Picking up the option would have cost the Titans more than $11 million. Warmack has started 46 games since being drafted out of Alabama, but the Titans need to improve both their run blocking and pass protection after winning just five games the past two years combined. The Titans just drafted two offensive linemen.
