Hitting the lanes to bowl over cancer -- that was the goal at the Hermitage Strike 'n Spare for the Nashville Predators sixth annual "Preds & Pins" Celebrity Bowling Tournament.
NewsChannel 5’s Rhori Johnston joined dozens of others on the lanes on Thursday, including Preds announcer Paul McCann, several Preds players, Gnash, and country singer Trisha Yearwood.
The event raised money for the 365-Pediatric Cancer Fund, benefiting cancer research at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
A 15-year-old, Jessica Meyer, has been cancer-free thanks to that research.
"I know what it feels like to go through that awful treatment, and yes, the doctors and nurses make it so much fun as it can be a very hard time, but as me being a patient in the hospital, I want to help other kids in the hospital,” Meyer said.
The event has aimed to raise $200,000 each year.
