Traditional Holiday Ambrosia
makes 10 servings
8 large navel oranges
1/2 cup sugar
1 ½ cups grated coconut
Additional optional fruits: pineapple chunks, green grapes, kiwi slices, pomegranate seeds
Peel oranges and carefully remove the orange sections, cutting away all the white membrane. If you are in a hurry, just slice the peeled oranges into rounds, then in half. Toss with sugar and coconut in a large glass bowl. Chill before serving. Garnish with mint sprig in center of bowl.
More fruits you can add that are non-traditional:
Red grapes
Mandarin oranges
Bananas
Blackberries
Raspberries
Grapefruit
Tip: adjust the sugar to your liking or add Jack Daniel Tennessee Honey Whiskey in place of sugar
