Those with the Tennessee Highway Patrol have been gearing up for all those extra holiday travelers.
They have partnered with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Governor's Safety Office for the 3rd annual “I-40 Challenge” placing units along Interstate 40 and other interstates.
The initiative has been set to go on across the nation to help make sure travelers are being safe and obeying the law during the busy holiday travel season.
“We want to do all we can to make sure Tennessee is a safer state and that everyone reaches their objective or reaches the area they are looking to go to, their family, their friends, and have Thanksgiving holiday with their family,” said Lieutenant Bill Miller with THP.
THP officials said the goal was to have zero fatalities on Tennessee highways over the holidays.
