A portion of Clarksville Pike closed after a tanker flipped and spilled fuel.

Officials said the incident happened Saturday morning on Clarksville Pike near Buena Vista Pike.

The tanker was carrying 8900 gallons of both diesel and regular fuel.

The fuel was leaking through a vent on the top, and hazmat crews worked most of the day Saturday to clean up the fuel and offload the remaining fuel to another truck.

No injuries were reported in the crash, and officials said there was no threat of explosion or need for evacuation.

The intersection at Clarksville Pike and Buena Vista Pike was closed all morning and most of the afternoon. Crews said the roadway was reopened around 5 p.m.

No further details were available.
