A crash involving multiple vehicles shut down a lane of Interstate 40 in Smith County.
The wreck happened near mile marker 263 in the eastbound lanes of the interstate around 7:48 a.m. Thursday.
No details had been released concerning the cause of the crash or if any injuries were involved.
Authorities with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the roadway was closed to eastbound traffic for a couple of hours. Just after 9:30 a.m. officials confirmed only the left lane was blocked to eastbound drivers. Westbound drivers were not affected.
Crews said the roadway was cleared around 1:00 p.m.
