A crash involving injuries on Interstate 40 has slowed traffic in the western part of Davidson County.

The wreck happened around 10:53 a.m. Saturday in the westbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 201 by Charlotte Pike.

Authorities said one person was involved in the single-vehicle crash. The 47-year-old male victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed to westbound drivers. Eastbound traffic was experiencing rubbernecking delays.

A second and third crash were reported in the same area, in the eastbound lanes, around 1:07 p.m. and 2:25 p.m. involving multiple vehicles, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Those wrecks reduced eastbound traffic to one lane. They were cleared by 3:30 p.m.
