NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Nashville couple has been arrested on multiple charges after a loaded gun was found underneath the mattress of a young child.
Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were called to the home of Eric Carter and his girlfriend, Dandria Johns, Thursday afternoon.
Police searched the home and allegedly found drugs in the kitchen cabinets.
A gun was also reportedly found inside their children’s room, where a nine and three-year-old had easy access to the weapon.
When they went into the garage, investigators said a pitbull was found locked in a cage with no access to water. The room had a reported temperature of nearly 100-degrees.
Carter was arrested on numerous drug and child neglect charges. He was booked on a more than $100,000 bond.
Johns, who was also charged with neglect, has since been released from jail.
It was unclear where the children were at this point.
