Donald Trump Scarecrow Keeps Franklin Farm Safe

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – With 14 Republicans currently vying for the GOP Presidential nomination, most candidates have been focused on states like Iowa or New Hampshire, but one presidential hopeful has been spending the last few days in a Franklin farm field.

Most farmers have been worried about rain during the summer but 61-year-old Dave Kelly has had problems of a much different variety lately.

“We had to replant all the corn because the crows came out here,” he said.

Having been terrorized by crows before, Dave knew there was only one solution to keep his garden safe.

“The most effective thing is the scarecrow anything that looks like a real human,” the retired marketer adds.

Imagine what those "scared" crows thought when they saw a giant real-life replica of Donald Trump had been erected in Dave’s garden just off Arno Road.

“We tried to get a Donald Trump suit but Goodwill store didn't have Donald Trump brand!” he joked.

Dave couldn't think of a more towering political candidate to watch over his garden.

“It’s just great to be able to entertain people a little bit,” he said.

All politics aside, the Donald Trump scarecrow has been doing the job.

“Since we've put Donald up on July the 4th, we've had no crows,” Dave explained.

“If you drive down the road and you start looking at his eyes and you keep looking he appears to be following you as you go by!” he added.

At 61-years-old Dave hasn't been sure how much longer he’ll be able to keep up the politically-themed scarecrows.

“I was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis and you just have limited physical abilities. It’s the gradual relapsing version which means I have good days and bad days,” he said.

For now though he's using his green thumb to keep his hand in politics.
