NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Several schools have been busy getting ready for the upcoming school year.

Newly chartered KIPP Kirkpatrick Elementary School had volunteers on hand to help get the facility ready for its students.

“We are starting off with a clean school, give a shout out to those volunteers that came out to help us today,” said Kirkpatrick Principal Mildred Nelson. “It’s called ‘All-In For Kirkpatrick’ so we're very excited.”

Volunteers helped clean the school as well as build furniture, paint, put together class materials, and even landscape.

More than 250 people turned out for the event and really showed how much the community has been coming together to support the school.

Kirkpatrick Elementary School was set to enter its first year of a turnaround partnership with KIPP charter schools.
