NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The city's own Kentucky Derby celebration was held in Centennial Park.

The Second Annual Music City Derby Day has been a fundraiser for "Bridges," which was formerly known as the League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Several local celebrities, including NewsChannel 5's own Vicki Yates, attended Saturday to take part in their own derby competition.

"Of course part of it is to watch the Kentucky Derby, and part of it is to see the celebrity jockeys in stick horse races,” said Sallie Hussey, President/CEO of “Bridges.” “I think really it’s also about serving and helping provide programs for deaf and hard of hearing in Nashville.”

It’s estimated 200,000 people in Middle Tennessee alone live with hearing loss.

This fundraiser was set to support the programs that help those people.
