LASCASSAS, Tenn. – A pharmacy robbery suspect was taken into custody following a pursuit through two Middle Tennessee counties.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said spike strips were used to stop the suspect in the yard of a home along Rockdale Fellowship Road in Mt. Juliet. At that time, 33-year-old Darrell Wayne Lambert was taken into custody.
Authorities said he robbed Lascassas Drugs on Lascassas Pike/Highway 96 on Thursday morning. Lambert allegedly walked into the family-owned pharmacy, threw a duffle bag over the counter, fired one single shot into the ceiling and demanded clerks fill up his bag with prescription pills.
The doctor's office across the street was placed on lock down after they learned about what was going on from one of their patients.
"We didn't know if he was coming over here, so we were pretty scared," said nurse practitioner Jamie Blaylock.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
According to investigators, Lambert then got into his car and led authorities on a pursuit into Wilson County before he was stopped. A rifle was seen on top of the suspect vehicle from Sky 5 HD.
Lambert has been arrested multiple times over the past decade for various charges, including violation of probation, driving without a license, aggravated robbery, casual exchange of marijuana, public intoxication, violation of parole, domestic violence assault, burglary, aggravated robbery, theft, fraud, robbery, theft, aggravated assault, assault and criminal impersonation. This was his 24th arrest.
He was taken to the hospital after ingesting some of the prescription pills allegedly stolen Thursday morning.
