NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It didn't matter rain or shine, people came out in crowds to get some Hot Chicken.
The Music City Hot Chicken Festival was held Saturday in East Nashville.
It featured several local vendors serving spicy foods and, of course, chicken.
There was also an amateur cooking competition judged by a festival certified panel, including NewsChannel 5’s own Meryll Rose.
First-timer Bodie Beaudine took the prize representing the Sky Blue Cafe and enjoyed some pretty good perks.
“The most important thing in my mind is bragging rights, but then we get this trophy and photo ops with previous winners and the mayor and two tickets to a Sounds home game, so yeah, that’s pretty cool,” Beaudine said.
All proceeds from the event went to benefit Friends of Shelby Parks and Bottoms.
