BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Authorities have been warning citizens of a scam in Warren County, Kentucky.
According to those with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, they have been notified of a scam where people have claimed to be a part of the sheriff’s office.
Officials said suspects have been contacting citizens telling them they’ve alleged missed jury duty or have outstanding fines and fees.
The suspect has been claiming to be a deputy with the sheriff’s office and has sometimes specifically stated he is Lt. Mark Allen.
The return number left by the suspect was listed as 270-206-2824. The voicemail message for this number stated the caller had reached the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect has used the calls to urge citizens to send in money.
Deputies said this was a scam because the sheriff’s office does not complete this type of business over the telephone, and they warned the public to not give out any private or financial information.
