Aundrea Cline-Thomas joined NewsChannel 5 in June 2011 as an education reporter. The topic is very familiar to her after covering Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools during one of its most controversial periods for News 14 Carolina. Budget cuts forced the district to cut millions of dollars, layoff hundreds of employees and close nearly one dozen schools.

Prior to working in Charlotte, she was a general assignment reporter at WMGT-TV (NBC) in Macon, Georgia.

During her free time Aundrea likes to travel and she looks forward to learning what the Music City has to offer. The one question most people ask when meeting her is about her hyphenated last name. The answer, it's her dad's entire last name that dates back many generations. So far back, that no one knows how it came about.

Aundrea graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Boston College. She also has a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. She is a member of The National Association of Black Journalists. She's originally from a suburb of Washington, DC.
