Chris Cannon joined the NewsChannel 5 team in May of 2004. He started as a freelance reporter and was hired full-time at the station in the fall of that same year.

Before coming to Nashville, Chris spent two years as an anchor at WTVW-TV in Evansville, Indiana. He was part of the team that launched a brand-new morning and midday newscast at the station in March of 2002.

Chris is no stranger to this part of the country. For five years he was a reporter and weekend morning anchor at KFVS-TV in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. When Chris started there in 1997 he shared the anchor desk with NewsChannel 5 weekend meteorologist Charlie Neese.

Chris got his start in television news at a small station in Binghamton, New York where he was a weathercaster, morning anchor and reporter.

In 2011 Chris was awarded a Mid-South Emmy for his coverage of a fire that destroyed a landmark business in Lebanon, Tennessee.

Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Chris graduated from the College of New Jersey in 1995.

Chris' family lives in Middle Tennessee. His parents have called Spring Hill home since 1993. His brother, sister-in-law, two nieces, and two nephews call Franklin home.
