Dave Nichols joined NewsChannel 5 This Morning as resident "trafficologist" in 2008.
In addition to his years as a traffic reporter, Dave's 30+ year resume includes stints on Nashville radio stations as an air personality, sportscaster, talk show host and news anchor. He co-founded Nashville's first sports-talk radio program, "Sportsnuts," on WSIX in 1980 and was the program director and operations manager for WLAC-AM & FM in the 1980s.
For two years in the mid-1990s he served as Executive Director of Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc., presenters of the annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. He also appeared on Nashville TV as host of the "Discovery" department on PM Magazine.
As Senior VP/Marketing for Nashville-based Film House, Inc., Dave developed and sold marketing campaigns for television and radio stations across the United States, Canada, Australia and the UK.
In addition to his traffic reporting duties at NewsChannel 5, he serves as Historian for the Tennessee Radio Hall Of Fame and is heard as the voice-over annnouncer on numerous radio and TV commercials and programs. Dave is also a graduate of Leadership Music.

A Memphis native who graduated from Houston County High School in Erin, Dave met his wife Pat while they were students at the University of Tennessee at Martin. They have two sons.
