CNN) -- Jimmy Kimmel welcomed new American immigrants with open arms -- and a live performance by Brad Paisley -- on his show Tuesday night.
Saying he wanted new citizens to feel more welcome in the USA, the "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" host introduced six immigrants from Mexico, Tunisia, and other parts of the world.
Kimmel then had the country star come out on stage to sing them a song.
"This is a very strange time in a America," Kimmel told the audience. "Our President is building walls and telling people to go back where they came from. With all that happening it's important to remember that many people still dream of becoming Americans. Every week immigrants from all around the world take the oath of citizenship."
He mentioned that the ceremonies are usually held in drab libraries and classrooms, and that "becoming an American should be more exciting than a trip to the DMV."
Paisley sang: "Congratulations citizens/ We're happy that you're here/ Come on in and take a load off/ Grab yourself an ice cold beer. You can exercise your freedom of speech/ eat a sticka' butter at a county fair/ Wear your Crocs with a pair of socks/ Go to Target in your underwear."
"Congratulations to our new fellow America citizens!" Kimmel told the group as confetti exploded around them. "Welcome to this country."
