NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Metro Nashville Police arrested Laquisha Banks on Sunday for stabbing a woman and assaulting the officers who responded to the scene.
Banks, 29, told police when they arrived to the multi-tenant house on the 1700-block of 21st Ave. N. that she "would not go to jail."
According to police, around 2 a.m. Banks got into an argument with a woman about a landlord-related incident, then cut the woman twice in the leg, puncturing her thigh. Police found a bloody knife at the scene.
When officers asked her to get in a patrol car, police said she cussed them out, refused, laid down on the ground, then braced herself so it would be hard to move her. A NewsChannel5 camera did pick up Banks asking police to put the guns down, but it's not clear if they were drawn at any point.
In a police affidavit, police report that Banks kicked three officers in the chest, arms and legs during the arrest. It took at least three of them to place her in the patrol car. She also apparently tried to bust out a window in the car and was subsequently put in hobble restraints.
Banks is charged with resisting arrest, three counts of assaulting an officer and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
