They're fluffy and golden, and usually, this Southern dessert is hard to find outside Louisiana.
"I was craving some beignets so I was trying to figure out how can I get them [in Nashville] without going to New Orleans," said Natasha Johnson, owner of The Beignet Bar.
Johnson says she's not really a baker.
"Not at all. I am a visionary. I’m a creative and I’m a millennial," she said.
Now, she's putting all her beignets in this basket and banking on Nashville's emerging foodie scene.
Next year, they hope to have a food truck and then a brick and mortar store. Until then, you can call or order online.
So what makes the dessert so special?
"So beignets are kind of a cross between a French doughnut and a pastry they’re usually served warm with powdered sugar all over them," she said.
