A suspect was injured in an officer-involved shooting in Lawrence County.
The incident happened Sunday at the intersection of South Ball Park Road and Mount Nebo Road in St. Joseph.
According to reports from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, an officer from the Loretto Police Department responded to a burglary-in-progress call.
When he got to the scene, he saw a vehicle leaving at a high rate of speed, driving through a ditch and heading in the direction of the officer and his vehicle.
TBI agents said the suspect’s vehicle hit the officer’s. The officer then allegedly fired several times, striking the suspect at least once.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The officer was not injured. TBI officials said the investigation remained ongoing.
