One person was killed in a crash on Bell Road in Hermitage, and a driver has been charged with vehicular homicide.
The head-on crash happened around 9 p.m. Friday at Percy Priest Dam.
According to officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department, the victim, identified Saturday as 49-year-old Lisa M. Stewart of Nashville, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she passed away.
Reports stated 39-year-old Brandon David Mackay, of Knoxville, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck behind Stewart's vehicle, a Honda CRV.
Mackay struck the back of the CRV, which caused Stewart to lose control, hit a concrete wall and a large metal box, and collide with an oncoming Ford Expedition SUV.
Mackay's F-150 crossed into the opposite traffic lane, hitting a sidewalk and fencing along the dam's structure.
Authorities confirmed Mackay was not injured, and no one in the Expedition was injured.
Mackay showed signs of impairment, and a blood sample was taken by court order.
According to a police affidavit, Mackay admitted to drinking. He was also reportedly convicted for a DUI in Sevier County in 2007.
He was charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication and driving on a suspended license. Mackay was being held in lieu of a $250,750 bond.
Bell Road was closed during part of the night for the investigation at the scene.
