One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Rutherford Count on Halls Hill Pike.
According to Rutherford County Fire and Rescue crews, the 7600 area of Halls Hill Pike near Kitrell Road was closed around 3 p.m. Monday.
A pickup driven by 52-year old Keith Smith was speeding down Halls Hill Pike when the truck went off the roadway and struck a mailbox, a culvert and a tree.
The crash report said Smith was not wearing a seat belt died in the crash. His two passengers were injured and trapped in the vehicle.
Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers investigated the crash. Drivers were asked to avoid the area as crews responded to the scene, including LifeFlight. The road was reopened after nearly two hours.
