1 killed in shooting at apartment on Dickerson Pike; police searching for suspect

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was killed in a shooting at an apartment on Dickerson Pike Wednesday, according to Metro Nashville Police officials.

Police identified the victim as 51-year-old Joe Harris.

The shooting was reported just before 4 p.m. Wednesday on the 1900 block of Dickerson Pike. When officers got to the scene, they found Harris dead inside an apartment.

On Thursday, Metro Police detectives issued an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Jamario Schields charging him with criminal homicide.

Schields and another man were at the apartment to buy drugs from Harris. An altercation took place during the transaction and Harris was shot and killed, according to Metro Police.

Police are still trying to identify the man who was with Schields. They asked anyone who may know where Schields is to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
