1 Killed In South Nashville Motorcycle Crash

One person died in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV in south Nashville.

The incident happened around 7:15 a.m. Friday on Willard Drive, not far from Haywood Lane.

Authorities confirmed the 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed. He was identified as Jose Armando Chavez Landaverde.

Reports stated he was riding with other motorcyclists when he crossed over into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons. The bike went down on its left side, and Landaverde was hit by a Ford Expedition. The motorcycle was thrown into a ditch. 

Officials confirmed the driver of the SUV, identified as 58-year-old Timothy Davenport, remained on the scene. Davenport was not injured.

That area was closed while the investigation was ongoing. Motorists in the area were diverted to Linbar Drive as an alternate route.

According to reports, there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement.
