NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 10-year-old boy is facing multiple charges after bringing a handgun onto school property.

Acting on a student's tip, a teacher at Lakeview Design Center Elementary School located the .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun where it had been hidden in the bushes outside of the school.

According to police, the gun's magazine was located in the child's backpack.

The 4th grader has been charged with theft (the gun was reported stolen), carrying a gun on school property, and underage gun possession.

The child told police that he had found the gun at home and that he showed it to other students but did not threaten them with it.
