(WTVF) — Church Hill, Tennessee is the safest city in the state, according to new research by Security Baron.
Security Baron, a website devoted to home, property and cyber security reviews and news, analyzed FBI rankings of crime rates to come up with the list of the state's safest cities.
The site looked crime rates including murder, rape, robbery, assault, burglary, theft and arson along with population and median income.
Eleven Middle Tennessee cities made the top 25 on the list: Brentwood, Spring Hill, Greenbrier, Nolensville, Franklin, Gallatin, Fairview, Hendersonville, Mount Juliet, Portland and White House.
Of Tennessee's five largest cities, only Clarksville made the top 50 on the list at No. 37. Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Memphis fell behind at No. 61, No. 79, No. 83 and No. 91, respectively.
The city claiming the top spot in safety has a negative violent crime tend at -1.05 and is home to 6,739 people in 2,817 households where the median income is $43,688.
Newport, Tennessee landed at the bottom of the list, just one below Memphis. With a population of 6,816 people, the city has a violent crime rate of 14.67 per 1,000 residents. Newport is just under 50 miles east of Knoxville.
